This book really impressed me, and successfully dragged me on through several other works of erich segal such as The Class, Prizes, The Doctors, Man Woman and. William Styron, the head judge for fiction that year, called it “a banal book which simply doesn’t qualify as literature” and suggested that even by being nominated it would have “demeaned” all the other novels under consideration. 'Love Story' and 'Oliver's Story' are maybe the more popular books, but for me this one surely amongst the best of Segal's It was from a long time ago, around my last years in college. It was nominated for a National Book Award, but withdrawn when the judges threatened to resign. The novel was an instant commercial success despite scathing reviews. and explore the wonder of a love that must end too soon. Segal originally penned the tale as a screenplay that was picked up by Paramount Pictures, but the company requested that he also write a novel adaptation. Falling deeply and powerfully, their attraction to one another defies everything they have ever believed-as they share a passion far greater than anything they dreamed possible. Set in contemporary Northeast America, Love Story (1970), a romance novel by Erich Segal, follows the trials and tribulations of a young couples ill-fated relationship. Opposites in nearly every way, Oliver and Jenny are kindred spirits from vastly different worlds.
